Auckland Power Cut

So on Tuesday I think everything went to hell here in Auckland, the power got cut to most of Auckland from about 8.30am till about 8pm. That's insane when you think about it in the biggest city in New Zealand, which is considered one of the major cities around the world. The "POWER" the power for christ's sakes was out for an entire day. That's just insane, university exams were cancelled mid way through, banks closed, hospitals reduced to minimal services, airports closed, even traffic lights went out for the entire day. If it was anywhere else in the world for example Los Angeles you'd have chaos well there was chaos here but I expected people to go and loot at least, but we're civil and nice we didn't do any of that. I ended up going into work early to see what the damage was, we blew up the telephone system so we couldn't make any outgoing calls and the incoming was screwed for the better part of the day. As for my father's work well, it blew up the computer there as well costing us around $50 to fix it. I think I should bill the power company that screwed things up for the entire city. I wonder how far I'd get I bet you they'd probably go well it's not our problem you didn't get a generator. I did take some photos of the incident, it reminds me of the times in 1998 when the city went out of power for nearly 2 weeks. My god, we do belong in the middle ages, well everyone does think we're from middle earth so I guess we're proving them right.
